A Modern Day Christian Warrior In Action

I received a text message the other day from a very dear friend who had a negative experience with a tradesman she hired to do a job for her mother. Here’s a summary of the incident (in her own words):
"I had a scenario unfold yesterday where Nanny was ripped off by a plumber. He used her credit card for numerous things he didn't need for her job and charged her $1100 for a $300 job. Nanny is from the old school of trusting people with her card so she learned a sad lesson at 94.
I called this guy yesterday and told him I found him on Instagram and was so sad to see that he professes that he's a Christian and a man of God in his bio. But he's not "walking the walk" if he takes advantage of a client, let alone the elderly. I didn't scold him but focused our discussion more like living how Jesus would want him to. I asked him what he thought the right thing to do was in this instance. He thought for a second then said "Can I give your Mom back everything to clear this issue up?" I refused the whole amount, as that wasn't fair to him, and told him to refund me what he thought was fair. I immediately received a Zelle for $700. I called him back, thanked him, and asked him to not stray too far from doing the right thing in the future and he will receive God's blessing.
The main thing that was cause for reflection is that so many people think putting God's title over theirs is enough, but in reality, their actions, not their words, must reflect the values they advertise. I'm hoping he also learned a lesson in all of this."
Jesus Himself delivered some of the most powerful warnings, especially regarding individuals who outwardly appear righteous but whose hearts are far from God. He warns that religious profession does not necessarily signify genuine discipleship.
Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves. Matthew 17:15
Jesus condemns outward religious observance that lacks genuine devotion to God. He criticizes people who profess their faith but deny it through their actions. True faith should guide one’s behavior.
This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me... Matthew 15:8
They profess to know God, but they deny him by their works. 2 Timothy 3:5
A potentially explosive situation was handled with the utmost grace and respect, leaving both parties with valuable lessons learned and fair compensation. Instead of resorting to anger and confrontation, my friend chose to address the tradesman’s Christian faith, prompting him to reflect on his actions. The discussion was centered around Christian values, fostering a respectful dialogue that ultimately resolved the contentious situation. My friend and her mother received quality service at a fair price, while the plumber felt satisfied that he had upheld his faith. It was a win-win situation for everyone involved.
Sometimes even those with good intentions falter and need reminding that that they are straying off the righteous path. In this case, my friend did a masterful job of handling the situation with tact, love, patience, and scripture - acting like a true Modern Christian Warrior. This, my friends, is how it's done.
